Is Quarterstaff 5e in dnd a simple melee weapon?
Quarterstaff in 5E D&D is a versatile weapon, and not just because of its Versatile weapon property. Any character can use the quarterstaff as a melee weapon. Even if an adventurer cannot gather two silver pieces, they might still use a suitable length of wood. The Basic Rules support the idea of substituting many objects for true weapon analogs.

The 5E D&D quarterstaff deals 1d6 bludgeoning and 1d8 melee damage if used in both hands. The quarterstaff is the result. It’s pretty simple. My experience is that quarterstaffs are never carried one-handed by characters. If I’m honest, I hadn’t thought about it. Some research has shown that there are one-handed quarterstaff strikes but not much in fighting styles. I have not found any medieval manuscripts that show knights holding a quarterstaff in their hands or swinging half-staff with a shield attached to the other.

How easy is to use Quarterstaff 5e?
The quarterstaff isn’t an easy weapon to use. A quarterstaff is superior to all other melee weapons pound for pound, beating clubs, great clubs and light hammers. The handaxe is the only weapon with a more excellent range, but a thrown quarterstaff can be considered an improvised weapon that still matches daggers or light hammers. Polearm Master can be applied to quarterstaffs, providing an optional bonus attack. This feat allows you to attack other creatures if they are within your reach.
A quarterstaff might also include an arcane focus staff. The 5E D&D rules don’t make this clear. Jeremy Crawford was asked in February 2016 if a mysterious focal team could be considered a quarterstaff. He said that it does. It would be surprising if many Dungeon Masters didn’t make this call. We haven’t even added magic to our simple melee weapon.
Return to shillelagh — A druid cantrip is easy enough to obtain for any character through Magic Initiate feat — a quarterstaff receives a situational boost depending upon your character. Your spellcasting ability modifier can be used to attack or damage rolls. The damage die is d8, and it’s considered magical. Two-handed attacks are the norm, as we have already discussed.

We’re now on to the fun stuff and will be revealing quarterstaff magic items. Almost every official 5E D&D quarterstaff is available. Magic items, while some require attunement to be used, others do not have any other requirements, so characters of all classes can use them. Each of the three compartments in the quiver connects to an extradimensional space. That allows the quake for multiple items to be stored while never exceeding 2 pounds. The smallest compartment can hold 60 arrows, bolts or similar things. The medium container can hold up to 18 weapons and similar objects. The most extended compartment can hold six long objects such as spears, quarterstaffs or bows.
Any item in the quiver can be drawn as a regular quiver, sheath or another similar object.

- Gulthias Staff: If you can make beasts less than 30 feet visible by uncomfortable, this magic quarterstaff is for you. The curse of Strahd Siphons can cause damage, but you may be affected by short-term madness. Evil plants also consider you non-hostile.
- Skyblinder Staff. This magic quarterstaff is perfect for melee characters with limited range options. - The staff of Striking. This weapon is a +3 magic tool (wow!). You can also spend a charge to do additional force damage for every hit. I can already picture a quarterstaff-wielding Paladin.
- Magi staff. This one requires attunement by either a wizard, warlock, or sorcerer. It also has tons of abilities. It is only mentioned here because it was brought up in our planning meeting for the video. We joked that some 1st-level half-orc wizards could defeat a tarrasque with these weapons. It would require precision timing, movement, and great luck. But a few Retributive strikes and relentless endurances later.
- The staff of Thunder and Lightning: This weapon is a +2 magic tool. You can also cause different effects once per day: additional lightning damage, stunning a target or projecting a curse. Lightning bolt thunderclap causes thunder damage to enemies and creates thunder—lightning bolt thunderclap and the lightning flash simultaneously.
- Voyager Staff. Another GGtR. This magic quarterstaff is a +1 magic tool that grants you +1 to spell attack rolls. You can use also cast banishment, blink and misty step, passer wall And Teleport. Attunement requires that you be a spellcaster but not necessarily a particular class.
Can you use Dex for a quarterstaff?
