Is it possible for Tiefling to be blue?

We are looking for options to have blue Tiefling. Tiefling skin naturally extends past standard human colors into the red or even yellow hues. Tiefling hair was frequently the same color as human hair also. Though dark blue, reddish, or purple were also standard shades one of the race. Tieflings were famous for their cunning and personal allure. It made them exceptional deceivers in addition to inspiring leaders when there were prejudices aside. Contrary to half-fiends, Tieflings weren’t predisposed to evil alignments and varied in alignment almost as broadly as full people, though Tieflings were undoubtedly devious. Usually, we come across red-skinned Tieflings more than blue Tiefling.

What color skin could Tieflings have?

We already discussed that Tieflings 5e have “human skin color,” and reddish. But 4e altered how tieflings look, involving 2/3/3.5e mails and 5e, standardizing the reddish skin/Asmodeus look. Still, you may think that the tiefling’s skin color has always been within this range. The previous editions explain that.

In the 5e tiefling player race outline, Infernal Bloodline section (PHB, p. 42):

Their skin tones protect the full range of human coloration but also consist of various shades of crimson. The official artwork of tieflings in 5e backs this up, revealing mostly red tieflings. However, from the Tiefling Variants sidebar (Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide, p. 118):

Instead of having the physical characteristics described in the Player’s Handbook, select 1d4+1 following attributes: small horns; fangs or sharp teeth; a forked tongue; catlike eyes; six fingers on each hand; goat like legs; cloven hoofs; a forked tail; leathery or scaly skin; reddish or dark blue epidermis; throw no shadow or reflection; exude a smell of brimstone. So the dark blue epidermis is an indication that blue Tiefling exists.

So there is a rule here that allows Tieflings to have blue skin. Most editions refer to tieflings having blue skin. I have never discovered some lore introduced in 5e materials, which may clarify why a Tiefling might have blue skin.

Blue Tiefling | Decedents of Levistus

There are as many sorts of tiefling as there are forms of high tech fiends. Officially they all got retconned on a metaphysical level into descendants of Asmodeus between 4th and 5th edition*. Still, the variants in Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes contradict that, so I choose the more intriguing option. In 4E, there were tieflings descended from non-archdevils such as rakshasas. You may have your tiefling personality, giving her small claws, sharp teeth, and faintly striped skin.)

A blue tiefling might be a descendant of Levistus. (It’d be more fitting when they utilized the Legacy of Cocytus traits from MTOF instead of standard traits.) Or you could make them a partial hybrid of some kind, like a certain Critical Role tiefling. Or maybe they had a magical mishap that permanently changed their skin color. Or they may be blue only because you need them to be blue. Tiefling is all a game anyway, so there is no harm in throwing some aesthetic changes.
