Does dimension door/ step provoke an attack of opportunity 5e?
Is there a scope that Is there any chance that a dimension step might provoke an attack of opportunity? Jeremy Crawford tweeted dimensional Door on September 27, 2016.
“Teleporting doesn’t create an opportunity attack (see PH,195). #DnD”
Dimensional Steps (Sp).
This ability allows you to teleport 30 feet per wizard level per day at the 8th level. It is a standard action. Teleportation can only be done in increments of 5 feet. This movement doesn’t trigger an attack of opportunity. Other creatures are welcome to join you. However, you will need to travel the same distance each time. Teleportation is not a movement. A creature’s speed using a movement mode (i.e. Burrow, climb, fly and land (or swim), but not on the creature’s ability or speed to move from one place to another. Distance is measured in dimensional steps and not speed using a movement mode.
Also, please don’t be concerned about it. Except for the activation of dimensional stepping as a spell-like capability, there were no attacks of opportunity. The ability provides unnecessary information and ends up providing more.
According to PHB, there is a similar view regarding Blink 5e.
According to the PHB
An opportunity attack can be possible if a hostile creature you can see is out of reach. You can’t make an opportunity attack if you teleport or someone or something moves without your movement, action, or reaction.
Is the dimension door able to trigger or bypass D&D’s mental prison?
Mental Prison is a charm/illusion magic, and the damage it causes is psychic.
The spell ends if the target is moved from the illusion, does a melee attack through the illusion, or reaches any part of its body through the illusion.
Although the spell doesn’t prohibit someone from using Dimension Door to escape the illusion area, they should be subject to 10d10 damage. It’s psychic, not physical.
It could be argued that the charm/illusion spell could be escaped with dim. You can’t take the damage if you believe that they should have taken it.
Some believe they are being pulled through a wall or lightning, but it is dim. They have bypassed the harmful effect by using another dimension. They don’t believe that they have travelled through fire or any other effect.
The DM must decide if the spell is responsible for the damage or caused by you believing the illusion. Even if you save, you still take 5d10 damage. If the illusion fails, it doesn’t matter if the target believes the spell is responsible for the damage.
So using dim. The door would result in 10d10 damage.
It is a very dangerous spell that can inflict up to 15d10 psychic harm (which rarely resists) and take the target out of the fight entirely if they fail to save.
Dimensional Step up
Teleportation alone cannot stop you from facing your foe.
Prerequisite(s), Dimensional Agility, Step up, base attack bonus +12 and abundant step class feature.
Benefit(s): You can follow an enemy creature as an instant action once per day if they move using a spell-like ability or teleportation spell. This ability does not have a range limit. You appear next to the target, wherever it happens to be. This ability cannot be used to travel to another plane. This feat doesn’t give you the ability to return or reveal where your foe is.
An 8th level Wizard of the Conjuration School 5e receives the Dimensional Steps Spell-Like Ability. Does Dimensional Steps Require a 5e Line of Sight?
Line of Effect is not required. Line of Effect is:
A spell must have an apparent effect on any target or space you are casting it on. Any spell you cast must have a clear effect line from the point of origin.
These cases refer to you standing in the square that you are.
You could argue that the destination is also a “space in your wish to create an effect”, but spells such as teleport, transport via plants, and dimension door would still require it. They don’t explicitly state that they don’t. That is in contradiction to how these abilities are often portrayed in modules or APs.
We’ll stop and think about the actual effect. Teleportation effects work by sending one or more creatures to another plane (usually astral but sometimes shadowed or ethereal) and then back quickly to the original location.
So what does Dimension Door Pathfinder spell talk about?
You can Teleport from your current location to any other place within range. You will arrive at the exact spot you desire. You can either see, visualize, or describe it by simply stating the distance and direction. For example, 200 feet downwards or upwards to the northwest at 45 degrees, 300 feet.
As long as they are not heavier than you can carry, you can bring along objects. You can also bring one willing creature of your size or smaller who is carrying gear up to its carrying capacity. Cast this spell on the creature within 5 feet of your location.
You and any creature you are travelling with take 4d6 force damages if you arrive at a location already occupied or controlled by an object or creature. The spell does not teleport you.

Is it possible to cast dimension doors into Leomund’s Tiny Hut in D&D5E?
Dimension Door is one of few spells that you can use to enter a Leomund’s Tiny Hut. Dimension Door does not rely on Line of Sight, which blocks most spells from reaching the hut.
Dimension Door states that you can teleport from your current location to any spot within your range. You reach the exact spot you desire. You can either see it, visualize it, or describe it by giving distance and direction. For example, “200 feet straight down” or “upwards to the northwest at 45 degrees, 300 feet.”
The most significant bits were highlighted in italics. It doesn’t matter if you see the destination inside the hut. You can teleport to any place inside the hut as long as you know the hut’s location. You may have problems with the last line because you can’t see into the hut. That depends on how crowded it is and how lucky you are.
You and any creature you are travelling with take 4d6 force damages if you arrive at a location already occupied or controlled by an object or creature. The spell does not teleport you.
Sage Advice covered the topic here: “If dimension door is used while you are falling, does it keep your momentum through? Unless there is an amendment to the core rules, the decision of the DM will be made. You can make any rule you like, but it is best to notify players about the homebrew rules before.
