You can place a curse on any creature which you can see within range. Through the game and when the spell ends, you deal with an extra 1d6 necrotic damage to the target. It happens whenever you hit it with a massive attack. Also, you can choose one ability when you begin to cast the spell. The target has a disadvantage on ability checks. It is made with the chosen ability.

Suppose the target drops to 0 hit points before the spell ends. You can use the bonus action on your subsequent turn to curse a new creature.
The Remove Curse cast on the target ends this spell early.
What do you do at a higher level in Hex dnd 5e spell?
At Higher Levels. When you begin to cast this spell utilizing a spell slot of 3rd or 4th level, you may maintain your concentration on this spell for up to eight hours. When you use a spell slot of 5th level or even higher, you may keep your concentration on this spell for up to 1 day or 24 hours.
Is Hex good 5e?
Hex 5e is excellent. A no save disadvantage on any ability check of choice 1st level spell that also does an extra 1d6 damage whenever you hit something is a fantastic spell.
How does Hex work in DND?

Does Hex dnd 5e give a disadvantage on attacks?
The next few questions touch on this point again. Suppose you cast the hex 5e spell and choose Strength as the affected ability. Does the target have a disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws that use Strength? No, the hex spell’s description says it affects ability checks that use the chosen ability.
Does hex 5e stack with Eldritch Blast?
Usually, the Relentless Hex 5e damage isn’t part of the Eldritch Blast, but it would stack with everything else. Suppose there are two hits. The total damage would be 2d10 + 2d6 + 12, or anywhere from 16 to 44 HP of damage per round.
Does Hex work with a magic missile?
You get one application of Hex per beam. It is because the spell requires an attack roll for each one. So Magic Missile 5e, since it doesn’t have an attack roll or even mentions, you are making an attack with it in the spell text. So it will not trigger hex damage in dnd.
Can you stack Hex and Hexblade 5e Curse?
You can stack Hexblade 5e Curse with other Spells like Hex or other concentration spells because 5e Hexblade Curse doesn’t require concentration. Then, add in your Channel Divinity (like Sacred Weapon or Vow of Enmity).
Is Hex a bonus action?

Can a Hexblade 5e dual wield?

How do the damage from the 5e Hexblade Curse feature and the Hex and Bestow Curse spells interact or stack with each other?
Hex 5e requires concentration, whereas bestowing Curse 5e at a high level, and Hexblade’s Curse does not. That allows all three things to stack on each other.
- Hex 5e deals damage whenever an attack hits
- Bestow curse 5e deals damage whenever an attack or spell inflicts damage
- Hexblade’s Curse 5e adds damage to all damage rolls
If you apply all three to a target, for every time I hit it, would it unfold as the following:
Hit, hex damage, bestow Curse 5e damage triggered by hit, bestow curse damage started by Hex, and all four damage rolls get boosted by 5e Hexblade’s Curse?
The Damage Roll is the result of all the Damage Dice.
You only apply your proficiency bonus from the 5e Hexblade Curse once when calculating your damage from an attack.
Damage Rolls 5e vs. Damage Dice
The key here is in differentiating Damage Roll (the total for an attack) vs. Damage Dice when determining how to apply these effects.
The following reasoning then applies:
- Hex is active on a target(PHB, 251)
- You may deal an extra 1d6 necrotic damage to the target whenever you hit it with an attack
- Bestow Curse 5e is active on a target(fifth level + to remove concentration) (PHB, 218)
- Your attacks and spells deal an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to a target.
- Apply 5e Hexblade Curse (XGtE, 55)
- You win a bonus to damage rolls against the cursed target. The bonus normally equals your proficiency bonus.
- Your weapon
- That gives you the following sets of damage rolls: Weapon Dice, Hex Damage, Bestow Curse Damage.

Are these all separate damage rolls if it is a single damage roll?
Let us look at the Concentration mechanism. We can look at how keeping a concentration up works in conjunction with that. Each separate damage roll from each source of damage (PHB, 203). You can make a separate saving throw for each source of damage.

The attack is your source of damage, and all of the bits of that single attack comprise the damage. That would be the same if looking at a standard attack + hunter’s mark. You have your total damage, which is the damage dice AND the Hunter’s Mark die. Only separately rolled attacks, or attacks that are separate like Magic Missile, are considered different sources of damage.
That is supported by the PHB (196) under Damage Rolls in dnd 5e:
Every weapon, spell, along with harmful monster ability specifies the actual damage it deals with. You roll a damage die or dice, then add any modifiers and apply the damage to your target. Magic weapons, special abilities, and other factors can grant a bonus to damage.
Damage Dice are a separate mechanic as seen by the Fighting Style Great Weapon Fighter, which specifically calls out the Dice rather than the roll. When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die. The language around the 5e Hexblade Curse is about Damage Rolls, not damage die. The Curse, therefore, doesn’t apply to individual Dice or every separate roll within the damage calculation.
Let us summarize damage calculation:
Weapon Dice + 1d6(hex necrotic 5e)+1d8(BC necrotic) + Proficiency Bonus(Hexblade Curse 5e). There is only ONE Proficiency use per roll. Both the PHB (12) and Xanathar’s guide reference the following rule.
You can not add a proficiency bonus to a single die roll or another number more than once. The further substantiates that you can not apply your proficiency to each damage die on your Damage Roll for any attack.
Is Hexblade Curse 5e a spell?
Unlike Hex 5e, it is not a spell. It could be considered a magical effect at DM discretion. Still, it is not explicitly one and is not by default.
