10 Worst Things Not to Buy in Craigslist of San Diego

The savings can be huge, but it’s not without potential pitfalls to shopping on Craigslist. When it comes to shopping sites like eBay and Craigslist,  super low prices can be attractive, and you can often find some really cool (and even nerdy) deals. But some things are so cheap that they are not real. On top of that, during the Covid 19 Pandemic, one should avoid any used items that can’t be washed and sanitized. For example : Used watches. We have compiled a list of product categories and better items to buy elsewhere. So what are the 10 Worst Things Not to Buy in Craigslist of San Diego?

Mattress

It would be best to buy a mattress through Craigslist, as the photos and descriptions do not tell you how clean the mattress is. Do you think cleaning as soon as you get home will solve the problem? No. It may still contain dust mites, bedbugs, and allergens. Buying a new mattress is a good idea for health reasons,  and it’s easy to buy online as well. Also, used mattresses can stick to other people’s bodies, making them bumpy and uncomfortable.

Cosmetics Items

Do not purchase cosmetics or makeup brushes with damaged seals. No matter what the seller says, there’s no way to know if it’s been used or not and no way to clean a makeup brush or applicator truly. Cosmetics and makeup brushes can contain bacteria that can cause conjunctivitis or other infections. Don’t risk your eyesight and overall health with an affordable deal. Moreover, you might think you’ve found the deal of the century on this expensive branded moisturizer, but think again. There is no way to know if a purchase from an unverified source an actual product or from other ingredientsa reproduction is.

Worn Shoes

Used shoes can be very tempting to buy from eBay or Craigslist, but don’t do it. Shoes are designed to fit one person’s feet, and if you wear them, they’ll already fit someone else’s feet. Your cheap purchase can leave you with the expensive treatment you need to solve your leg and back pain and problems.

Medicines

Supplements and vitamins are things to avoid on San Diego Craigslist or eBay. Yes, sellers may have great stores with great reviews, but the bottom line is that these discounts are there for a reason. You have no idea how they were treated or if they were made of a substandard product. Counterfeit brands of some supplements are often sold on eBay. You know, they may look like a brand, but if you look closely (after purchasing), you will find that they are fake.

Vacuum Cleaners

Most people who sell vacuum cleaners online do that because they usually don’t work that well anymore. And since there’s no way to know for sure if the vacuum you’re buying is from pets, fleas, or bedbugs, a used vacuum can remove more dirt than it cleans.

Bicycle Helmets

According to the Institute for Bicycle Helmet Safety, helmets are only suitable to prevent you from any kind of serious damage.  All types of helmets may not be safe to buy on Craigslist or eBay. As with the mattress, you can’t tell how clean it is. A used helmet may end up not worth saving a buck or two. When it comes to security, you won’t know what hits and frustrations will make you unsafe. Don’t take the risk; buy a new one. Suppose you’re buying a used item on Craigslist (or secondhand anywhere, for that matter). In that case, there’s no way to know if the item you’re looking at is in viable condition. Safety is our number one priority, so it’s always a good idea to buy a new helmet.

Tickets

Craigslist is not a good choice to buy tickets for any event or concert. Unfortunately, many scammers on the site steal money to buy fake tickets. The best you can do is report the list. It’s not worth the risk.

Pets

You can’t sell pets on eBay or Craigslist, but you can “adopt” pets on Craigslist for a small fee. It means you can have pets on Craigslist. But this is probably a problem that needs to be addressed. There are many stories of relocated pets with behavioral or health issues that you won’t find in Craigslist ads. Even if the ad doesn’t mention behavioral issues, it could be a disappointing lie for owners who want to quickly get rid of their pets.

Car Seats For Babies

Car seats are not available on Craigslist, eBay, or secondhand sellers. If you are going to purchase a car seat, it may look in good condition, but if you buy it used, there’s no way to know if it’s been in an accident in the past. Luckily, there are other ways to save money on your car without putting your money at risk. If you are buying a used car seat, we recommend that you follow the advice of car seat lady expert Debbie Bear.

Even if the car seat is  new and still in its packaging, we don’t know if that particular model was previously recalled for safety reasons or if the seller discarded that model because it was missing an important part) Remember: It’s safer than sorry!

Stuffed Toys

The possibility of head lice is just one reason to think before buying a stuffed animal on eBay or Craigslist. Bacteria, secondhand smoke, bedbugs, cockroaches, and other creepy crawls are also potential “add-ons” that may include in your purchase. Buy new soft toys or buy them from trusted friends and family.

What Does Craigslist Sell?

There are a lot of things for sale on Craigslist. Finding good deals can take a bit of homework, but the savvy will find it well worth buying in this historic online marketplace. You can’t be 100% sure that used items will live up to all the promises on this list, but that’s just the risk you take when buying used items (and why used items are usually much cheaper).
