iPhone 11, 12, 13 Flashlights Quick Guide
The new iPhone 11, 12 & 13 have a handy flashlight feature that quickly becomes one of the most popular and most used phone features. As with anything new, not everyone knows how to access it and use it to its full potential, and that’s where we come in! This tutorial will walk you through how or when to access your iPhone 11, 12, and 13 flashlights and use your phone’s flash to get proper lighting!
Step 1: Open the Settings App
The first thing you’ll need to do is locate your Settings app. You can find it either by tapping on your iPhone’s Home button twice or pulling down with two fingers from any screen on your device. In there, tap General > Accessibility and scroll down until you see LED Flash for Alerts. Enable that setting by flipping its switch to green. If your phone doesn’t have a physical button here (iPhone X) or if it isn’t present in your iOS settings at all (iPhone 8/8 Plus), you may be using Touch ID or Face ID as an alternative way to unlock your device—go ahead and use one of those methods to proceed through Settings.
Step 2: Tap Brightness and Wallpaper
Brightness and Wallpaper are located at the top of your screen. By default, these should be set to Auto. You can also change their positions by tapping on the manual. This will bring up a slider where you can adjust each as you like. A solid white background is suitable for reading at night since it will reflect light better than other colors or shades and could also help reduce eye strain if that’s a concern for you. It’s also easier on your eyes if you have any form of light sensitivity or migraines from bright lights. Many people find darker backgrounds less stressful to look at overall since they don’t feel like there are glaring lights constantly assaulting them.
Step 3: Turn On Assistive Light
Next, go to your primary Control Center, where you access everything on your iPhone. Glance up from the bottom of your screen to reveal a white square containing illumination icons (which includes Assistive Light). Tap that and swipe until it’s on. The assistive light won’t turn off by itself once you’ve turned it on–so make sure to turn it off when you’re done! Again, repeat these steps and tap Assistive Light again when you need it. It will work any time, night or day. Note: If you don’t have control center enabled (it doesn’t come on by default), go to Settings > Control Center and make sure Control Center is turned ON.
Step 4: Go Back to your Home Screen
If you’re using an iPhone, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to return to your home screen. On Android devices, it’s a bit different: go to Settings > About phone> Tap Build Number seven times (the first time will activate developer options and allow you to access hidden features). After doing so, you’ll be able to turn on Night Light by heading into Settings > Display > Night Light.
Follow these steps for Screen Dimmer and Smart Invert Colors. When Night Light is activated, tap on Customize and choose how long it should take for night light mode to start when entering dark rooms. Choose between 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes. You can also enable Motion and Face Detection to make Night Light only activate when something or someone shifts in the front of your Phone’s Camera. To customize which apps use Night Light, head into Settings > Display > Night Mode Apps, where you’ll see a list of all apps currently being used with Night Mode turned on. Select any app to toggle its setting off or on.
Step 5: Tap Camera Icon
The camera icon is located on your iPhone’s home screen. To see it, tap and hold an app until it starts to jiggle or move. Then tap Camera at the bottom of your screen to open up your camera app. It looks like a standard old-school camera with a red-eye reduction flashbulb. To turn on your iPhone’s flash for use as a flashlight, press down on your Phone’s Flashlight button for about two seconds and then release it when you are done using it as a light source. With that in mind…You can now feel empowered and use whatever light is available around you to get through those next few moments!
Step 6: Make sure Front Flash is ON.
After turning your phone on, swipe down from your Home screen to bring up Control Center. Here you’ll see a slider that allows you to toggle Front Flash ON and OFF. Swipe right, so it is set to ON, and you’re good to go! You would then be eligible to be using your flash as a flashlight by tapping or clicking on it while in Control Center! Have fun with Front Flash on IOS13!
Step 7: Press the White Circle in Front of the Camera Lens with your Finger To activate Flashlight
With your new iPhone device powered on and unlocked, tap the Settings icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Now scroll down until you see Flashlight & press it. The first option is a toggle switch that you can turn ON or OFF using your Finger. If you want to turn ON your iPhone Flashlight, then use a finger and slide over from left to right until it says ON, located just under the slider bar. Repeat the same process if you want to disable the iPhone flashlight. This tutorial shows how easy it is for iPhone users who upgrade from previous models and get confused with new features in the IOS 13 update.
Final thoughts:
This new IOS that Apple released has been a bit of a problem for many people, and it does not have a lot of tutorials to help. We put together one for you here in our flashlight guide. Now you can get back to playing that new game or doing something productive with your phone again! The tutorial also points out where you can buy flashlights if you don’t have one yet and do not want to purchase an app. Don’t let your phone go dark again and leave yourself stranded; use its flashlight option! To have all of that knowledge at your fingertips is even more convenient than blindly searching for a button on your keyboard that no longer exists.
